Our Business Permit Renewal Service

Part of our business compliance and post registration services, we offer a comprehensive business permit renewal service that covers all aspects of the process, from consultation and document filing to follow-ups and support:

Consultation and Assessment

For our existing clients, we usually start with the assessment and preparation of documents months before the due date, or at least before the end of each year. For new clients, we also conduct an initial consultation to discuss timelines, requirements, processes, and other expectations.

Document Preparation and Filing

We have identified all business permit renewal requirements, processes, and fees imposed by the LGUs with jurisdictions over the areas we serve. After gathering all documentary requirements (e.g., previous business registrations, financial statements, etc.), we can already start with the renewal process at the barangay level and then with the BPLO.

Regulatory Compliance and Constant Follow-ups

We ensure that all our clients’ regulatory requirements are met. We directly communicate with the LGUs, track submission status, address issues immediately, and exhaust all resources to ensure that everything is within our timelines and at par with the service standards.

Ongoing Support and Updates

We remind our clients about the renewal deadlines and keep them updated with the changing rules and regulations. During the actual business permit renewal process, we ensure that they are on track of the progress.

Business Permit Renewal FAQs

What Is a Business Permit?

A business permit, also called a Mayor’s Permit or BPLO Permit, is a government license issued to companies and business owners. It serves a green light for them to operate legally within the city or municipal jurisdiction. Its issuance comes with certain duties such as local tax payments and compliance with health, sanitary, environmental, safety, and other standards.

Why Do You Need to Renew Your Business Permit?

Business permit renewal is a crucial post-registration process that ensures continuous compliance with local laws and regulations. Once the permit expires, it must be renewed immediately within the prescribed period to avoid fines, penalties, and possible disruptions to business operations.

When Is the Annual Renewal of a Business Permit?

In almost all cities and municipalities in the Philippines, a business permit expires on the last day of each calendar year, i.e., the 31st of December. Its annual renewal is from January 01 to January 20 of the following year, unless an extension applies.

What Are the Penalties for Late Renewal?

Skipping or delaying the business permit renewal often results in the accumulation of fines and penalties. Under the Local Government Code of the Philippines, LGUs may impose a twenty-five percent (25%) surcharge on the local business tax assessment, an additional two percent (2%) penalty for every month, and possible business closure or seizure of properties.

What Are the Requirements for Business Permit Renewal?

While the actual requirements vary per city or municipality, these generally include barangay business permits, business permits and official receipts from the previous year, company registration documents, and other secondary permits and certificates, e.g., CENRO, sanitary permits, FSIC, comprehensive general liability insurance, etc.

What Is the Process of Business Permit Renewal?

After securing a barangay business permit or clearance, go through the different offices for the secondary permits and certificates. Once all requirements are complete, submit them to the City or Municipal Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) for assessment and payment of fees.

What Are the Business Permit Renewal Fees?

Business permit renewal fees vary across jurisdictions. In general, however, these fees are for the local business tax, sanitary inspection, garbage collection, building inspection, mayor’s permit, and others required by the LGU.

How Long Does It Take to Renew a Business Permit?

Many LGUs set up a business one-stop shop (BOSS), especially during business permit renewal season to provide convenience to business owners and expedite the processing. Updated business permits may also be released on the same day or within two (2) weeks, depending on the efficiency of the LGU.
